It is done!

Okay, after three weeks of stuffing around, I’ve resintalled my server and got it up and running again.  I’m holiding off on getting a DNS server configured as I can access this site’s test site both remotely and locally. The fun bit will proabably be uploading thuis site and keeping it synced.

This lets me get back to my course work.  It’s less than two weeks before the current topic’s due date and I really must get cracking!

Finally, he said

Ok. I have not managed to get BIND9 working on my server as yet, but I have this site up and running and it is publicly visible if you know the correct IP address.

So, this post is just for testing purposes.  The next thing I’ll need to do is upload it to my aliensniche site and get the mySQL db up there too, then all will be well with this website!

What’s the haps in class?

The work we thought we had another two weeks to do in class has been bumped for some new topic (eh? WTF is my course provider doing?). This means I need to finish the shiny thing, the house perspective and the inforgraphic (temp pics to come on my WIP entry) in my own time.  Argh to more expected late nights.

Back to the late nights

Three day weekend thanks to a public holiday on Monday. Thanks to tinkering with WordPress and also trying to get a linux server running, many late nights and lots of neglecting of my study.

I seem to have the static pages pretty much down pat.  The blog page is nearly there, but I want a featured posts section at the top.  My current coding screws the page formatting.  It also looks like I need to modify the ciding for the base archive page and category pages.  Hmmm.

Trying to get WordPress up and running

Ok, I’ve installed WordPress and have gone  looking for plugins so I can have functionality similar to LiveJournal.

What I need is:

  • -automatic RSS feed generation (for when I integrate a WP site into my cycling club’s Website
  • -something to indicate my mood when posting
  • -something to say what music I am listening to when posting

I figure I do not need to say where I am when posting as it will primarily be on my main computer at Earhbase Central
